Tricks and Treats!

Here are some cool things I discovered while playing the game!!

Challenge Mode-

Once you've added all 3 different kinds of Pikmin, save your game. At the main menu a 'Challenge Mode' option will be availible. The challenge mode is this: You get to choose an area that you have already been to and you have to grow as many pikmin as you can in one day! It's really fun! There has been some modifications in the Challenge Mode. Such as: some creatures that didn't once inhabit the area, now inhabit it and some animals are no longer there. Modifications to the landscape have been made also. Example: Some walls or barricades that were once there, are now not there. Also, challenge mode days are slightly longer, so take advantage of the extra time!;)

Fighting Olimar!!-

First, put all pikmin that may be following you either in an Onion or put them idle. Then you can hit enemies if you hit the throw button (the A button)! The attack is weak, but you can take small or weak enemies such as Dwarf Bulborbs down easily. You can also take down strong and/or large enemies by repeatidley tapping the A button. But be carful! The enemies can give Olimar a thrashing!

Fireworks Display-

Press down on the directional pad below the gray analog stick. 4 pikmin will pick you up and bring you back to an Onion. There will be a short fireworks show afterwords!
NOTE: Don't press ANY key while the pikmin are bringing you! Otherwise the pikmin will drop you!!! I DO mean any! Even if you press L or R, they will still drop you! So just sit back and wait.

Invincible Olimar-
When there are no pikmin following or near you, press the fireworks button (down on directional pad). Olimar will lie down like he does when doing the fireworks procedure. When enemies attack him, he will not take any damage. Even if a Wollywog jumps on him, he will not sustane any damage! Sure, you can't do anything, but it is a good way to wait for an enemy to back off.

SSBM Pikmin Trophies-

There are two pikmin-related trophies that can be aquierd in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Unfortunately, only one is a deffinate give. The first trophy is Captain Olimar. You can obtain the Captain Olimar trophy by inserting a memory card with a Pikmin save file. Then there's the Pikmin trophy, this one I can't really tell you how to get, except that keep going in the coin lottery! That is the only way to get the Pikmin trophy.

Blue Pikmin Mystery-

For some odd reason, many fans are having a HUGE problem finding the blue pikmin. Well, here's how to solve it. First off, they're in the Forest Navel. When your ship lands, there should be a white gate next to the landing site. Knock it down. Go down the path until you reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork. I left something out: You should see many little resevoirs (pools of water) to your right, to know that you are going in the right direction. So, when you take the right fork, you should see another resevoir. That is where the blue onion soaks. There, now you know. The long and hard "Blue Pikmin Mystery" is done. CASE CLOSED!

Positron Generator Walkthrough-

This part is in the Impact Site. First get lots of blues and a few yellows. Go to the area where you will encounter the Mamuta or Goolix. Get the bombrocks that are in the box and blow up the stone wall. Put your yellows idle, and get all your blues. Go to the beach area and you'll notice 3 large clams. They are called Pearly Clamclamps. The two on the right have pearls that produce 50 pikmin seeds, and the one in the middle has the part. Throw your blues into the mout of the PCC and have them attack the little bubble. Call them back after about 2 seconds, for the Clamclamp will shut its mouth closed and eat em! So, keep attacking and get the part. Do the same procedure for the pearls, as well.

Omega Stabilizer Walkthrough-

In the Forest Navel area, go to the area were the Fiery Blowhogs are located. If you go forward a little ways, and then turn left, you should see an area with mushroom lanterns giving off a blue lite. Go all the way down to the lower level of the 'steps'. There is a Puffstool walking around! You should always remember, when dealing with these creatures, keep your pikmin far away, because the Puffstool emits a purple burst of spores, which turn the victmised pikmin purple, whith a mushroom on its head! These 'possesed pikmin' attack Olimar and can take him down in seconds!!! Anyway, fight with Olimar instead of the Pikmin. Eventually, after you've defeated the Puffstool, a pair of 'Omega Stabelaizers' will come out!
NOTE: You should use red pikmin to carry the OS back to the ship! Those nasty Fiery Blowhogs will make a barbicue out of blue or yellow pikmin!

Space Float Walkthrough-

In the Forest Navel area, look for the Breadbug that is always trying to steal the pelets. There are two ways to kill it. The first, and easiest way, is this: First have some pelets on the ground. The Breadbug will try to steal it! Get two or more pikmin, throw them at the Breadbug. They will start pulling the pelet. The Breadbug will hang on! Eventually, your pikmin bring the pelet, with the Breadbug back to the Onion. When the pelet gets suck up, the 'pelet stealer' will also be sucked up. He'll bounce off the top of it and lose some health! You have to keep doing that for about three times. The second, longer way, to defeat it is this: Defeat it, using Olimar. After the Breadbug dies, from which ever methode you used, a part will pop out of it. Use pikmin to carry it back to your home base!
NOTE: If you are confused with what animal I mean, go to the screenshots page! It is on the second shot!

Guard Satellite Walkthrough-

This is yet another part that is difficult to find in the Forest Navel area. You need yellow pikmin. First, get some bomb rocks. Then go down to the beach were the firey blowhogs are. Rite when you get off the second "stairway" that your pikmin make, take a left. There's a lot of Sheargrubs and Shearwigs here, so be ready. After defeating the bugs, knock down the black stick wall. then knock down the stone wall with the bomb rocks you just got. Then, go into the sandy area. Now this, along with the Puffstool, you'll have to fight a boss. It is a Beady Long Legs. This thing can take hundreds of pikmin at once. It is a big machine spider thing. Get under its center. What stinks is, the subborn pikmin always try to attack its legs, which leads to a quick death (you see, the BLL attacks by stomping on pikmin with its massive legs). Well, you have to throw the pikmin at its center until it explodes. Then a few pelets will fall down. Along with....THE GUARD SATALITE!

Radiation Canopy Walkthrough-

This time, the part isn't in the Forest Navel, but in the Forest of Hope! First get as many blue pikmin as you can out of the onion. Then, go through the rock wall entrance you should have made with your yellows, it is to the left of you when you land. Knock down the black stick wall, or just go through the sectret entrance that is cut out of a root. I suggest knocking down the wall instead, because it's very hard to fit all of your pikmin through the one small hole. Also, if you plan to get all 30 parts, you'll need that entrance made for the Nova Blaster. Anyway. You should come upon an area with a family of bulborbs. Ignor them and go into the small pool of water, were another gate should be, nock down the gate and go up the hill. You should be at yet another black gate. Knock it dow, blah blah blah. Then you'll be in a big arena. There should be an Armored Cannon Beetle walking around. The trick to any Cannon Beetle battle, is to throw a pikmin at his face rite when he inhales air to spit out a rock. The pikmin will get caught in the spout. The beetle will open its carapace (shell) and a red skin should be visible. Throw your piks at his red back and he will eventually die after the process is defeated. In the corner is the part you have been doing all of that wall-breaking for! Bring it back to the base and you've just been awarded with the Radiation Canopy!

Geiger Counter Walkthrough-

This is yet another hard to find part in the Forest of Hope. First get LOTS of blues. You'll need about 93. Also take out about 6 yellows. Go out of your landing site by the entrance that you made from the white gate. Go right. If you havent already killed them, there's Dwarf and Spotty Bulborbs around. Don't worry about the spotties, the part won't be carried back that way. Anyway, go to where the two sleeping bulborbs where or are and go through where the other gate used to be. There should be a can with some bomb-rocks in it. Use your yellows to get them, and blow up the stone wall nearest you. There are two sleeping bulborbs and a couple of dwarves, so try to stay out of the way. Put your yellows idle and out of the way. Make at least 10 blues to move the box. Do this by going into the small pool (on either side) and throw the blues on land near the box. They should automaticly go to work! Now, it's hard to get all your blues across that narrow walk way, so try and get as much as you can, and just throw the rest onto the land, like done when moving the box. Now, you have to fight 3 bosses!!! Not fair huh? So be ready. They are three birds that pop out of the ground to eat the pikmin, called Burrowing Snagrets. Here's the stratedgy: When the snagret pops out of the ground, try and throw the blues on his face, not the neck. The blues will give it damage, but the BS can just pluck them off with its beak. Sometimes, if you're lucky, the snagret will get, well, snagged! As it starts to rise up, it will get stuck about half way up. Throw pikmin on its face franticly! So, beat it by useing the stradedgy and you will be rewarded with TONS AND TONS of pelets! The third one you beat will have the Geiger Counter, plus TONS AND TONS of pelets!!

Repair-Type Bolt Walkthrough-

This part is in the Distant Spring area. The repair-type bolt is located just beyonde were the yellow onion lands. Get about 30-40 yellows. Go to the area were you see the little "bridge that goes across the water. Put your pikmin idle. Get 8 or less and carefully bring them over the narrow walkway. Repeat the process until you've gotten at least 20 over to the other side. Naturally throw them to where the part is. Then when they land, call them back! They will try, and fail, to bring the part through the water. Obviously they'll drown. So do the same as you did before. Bring groups of 8 or less across to the OTHER side, where you first started. Put your yellows back and get out 20 blues. Then throw them at the part and let them carry it back to base!

Smokey Progg Walkthrough-

Before day 15, go to the area in the Distant Spring that is formed by islands. It is in the shape of a flower. Look at the map the Whimsical Radar provides. Get some blues to go into the water. Touch or wack the egg in the center. Now go back to base and put all of your blues back into their onion. Get as many reds out as you can (for powerful attacks). When the progg comes out on land throw the piks on its face. Don't touch the smoke it leaves! And don't let pikmin get caught in it either, or they'll die :(! So, avoiding the smoke trail, keep throwing your reds on its face, it will die and give you lots of seeds! (100!)

Mamuta Walkthrough-

On an even day, after day 1, go to the Impact Site. Go to the area that is cut into the trunk of a tree (go up the ramp that your pikmin made with the box). You should see a large rock monster walking around. This battle is simple and tricky at the same time. Try and throw pikmin on it, not next to it. The Mamuta will slam your pikmin, replanting them.
NOTE:
After the Mamuta slams a few times, it will take about 30 seconds or so to rest. When it does this, take advantage of it and pluck any planted pikmin!

Goolix Walkthrough-

On odd days, after day one, go to the area that is cut into the tree. And, oh yah, GET TONS OF BLUES! The Goolix's watery body willl kill red or yellows. You'll notice two balls inside of it. Try and attack the black one. Just make your pikmin swarm it with the C-Stick. You can either wait, or throw another pikmin at the pink one while tons are attacking the black ball. It will take out lots of damage, and not kill your pikmin but just fling them away.

The Best Way to Defeat a Spotty Bulborb-

First get lots of pikmin (100 is a good choice). Then, go behind a sleeping Bulborb. Use the C-Stick to make your pikmin swarm around it. Before the Bulborb fully wakes up, it's dead!

The Easy Way to Defeat a Dwarf Bulborb-

When there is a Dwarf Bulborb in site, aim the cursor(the purple circle that determins where thrown pikmin will land) directly on it. Throw one pikmin. It will fall on the DB and smush it!
NOTE: The cursor MUST be rite on top of the Dwarf Bulborb! Otherwise, the thrown pikmin will merely land rite next to it, and start to attack. This will result in the Bulborb eating it!

How to Be Invincible Against a Fiery Blowhog-

All you have to do, is get red pikmin. The flames that come from the Blowhog's snout won't effect them. And the bucking that it does doesn't do any damage, except bringing down its plant stats.

How to Turn Purple Pikmin Back to Normal-

If your pikmin are turned into purple pikmin, there is a way to turn them back. When a pikmin is victimised, make a non-purple (normal) pikmin that wasn't sprayed by the spores, attack on of the purples. The purple will turn pale-(the color that it was before) and die. But before it lays down (rite when it turns pale) blow your whistle on it. It will be allarmed as it would normaly when the whistle is blown, and it will turn back into red, yellow, or blue and the mushroom will disappear.

How to Save Drowning Pikmin-

There are two ways to save a yellow or red pikmin from drowning. The first basic/boring way, is to emediately blow your whistle on them. Keep whistling until they make it to shore. The second, more fun, way is this: When a pikmin or two are drowning, throw several blues into the water at their side. The blues will act as rescue squads and hurl the victims out of the water!:)

Plant Stats-

Leaf-This is how the head of a Pikmin looks at first. Leaf bearing pikmin are the slowest and weakest.
Bud-If left in the ground for a while (after coming out of the Onion) the leaf will transform into a bud. Bud pikmin have a medium amount of speed and strength, a good level if I do say so!
Flower-Use your pikmin to pluck the grass that sticks out of the ground, or slap the shells that sit on the ground . Golden Nectar will eventually plop out. Or throw a pikmin at a Honywisp. Anyhow, the nectar will automaticly change a leaf or bud into a flower. Or leave the planted pikmin in even longer after the head transforms into a bud. Another way is to locate the Mamuta at the Impact site ( on even days after day 1), which will slam your pikmin into the ground and turn them into flowers (I don't suggest it though). Pikmin with flowers on their head are the strongest and fastest of all!
NOTE: If a pikmin is thrown or bucked(like the Fiery Blowhog) you will notice that it will shake its head. You should see petals flying everywear. That means its plant status will be reduced by one. If it has a bud, it will turn into a leaf. If it has a flower, it will turn into a bud. If it is a leaf, nothing will happen. If a pikmin is bucked, it will never die (unless bucked into water if it's a red or yellow).

More Pikmin-

This is just a basic tip. In order to reproduce more pikmin try to have the color of the pikmin bringing the pelet be the same as the color of pikmin you want to make more of. Example: a Red "1" pelet reproduces two red seeds, but only 1 blue or yellow seed. Try to have the majority color match the color of the pelet. Enemies are slightly different. While you do have to have the majority color pikmin carrying it so that it is brought to that onion, it doesn't matter what onion it is brought to. Fallen enemies will ALWAYS produce the same amount of pikmin seeds for every color.

Flower Pikmin Produce Multiple Seeds-

This trick can be very useful. If you have a Flower Pikmin, and it dies, it will produce a planted pikmin were it was killed (this does not always happen).

Final Trial Obstacles-

The final level, the Final Trial is loaded with obstacles that you must break down in order to face the Emperor Bulblax. The first obstacle is the first bridge. DUH! Make your pikmin build the bridge. When you get to the land mass, you will see a stone wall. Put your pikmin idle. Get a few yellows. Go back to shore. You will see a larger land mass close to shore. Throw the yellows onto the land mass from shore. Then go up on the large rock mountain, and throw them onto the higher land. Then, when they are all up there, go into the water. Near the wall of the high land, there is a jet that will bring you up to the high land mass. Once you're up there, you will see a pipe, there are bomb rocks in there, you know what to do. Then throw them back across to shore. Then go back to the stone wall and blow it up. Then there is another bridge. Once you made that, you will notice a box in the way. This is when you go back to shore again. Get at least 10 reds. Go to the far left side of the shore, you should see a red path, uh, thing with fire jets blowing out. Throw them up there. Bring them across, using the C-Stick to guid them while you are in the water RIGHT next to the red metal path thingy. When they reach the newest bridge site, have them buildit. You can go under the second bridge you made, and they will push the box out of the way. Then you will find a wall, then another wall that is across the sandy area. The are very easy to take down. It takes about 1 whole day to complete the obsicales. So, if you just came to this level on day 30, you're screwed. (note: when you go to destroy the second bridge, do NOT touch the plant!!!!!!!)

Emperor Bulblax Walthrough-

Ok, here it is! The best strategy to beat the final boss! This is guarrenteed to work!
Since the solving of the obstacle problem takes up most of your day, you must have at least taken the obstecales down on the 29th. If you attempt to knock the obstacles down, and face the EB in one day, you will fail (it takes about the same time to kill the bulblax as it does to take the obsicales down). First, get 70 yellows, and 30 reds. Gather all the bomb rocks you can find(go across the sandy area and through the second wall), taking ONLY the yellows with you past the first entrance!! Go back to the entrance of the sandy area. Put all of your pikmin idle(X button). Remember to put them idle well away from the entrance!!! Then go over to the plant and touch it (you should have no pikmin following you, or near the entrance of the "arena"). A huge grubdog will pop out! It is the Emperor Bulblax, the final boss in the game! Although his appearence may be frightning, using the strategy that is about to be given to you makes him VERY easy! First, get a few (2 or less) bomb-holding yellows. When the Bulblax opens his mouth to eat, throw a pikmin near it. If you are lucky, and threw the pikmin fast enough, the little guy'll throw the bomb at the bulblax before it eats him!! Then get out of the way (go back to the entrance). The EB will eat the pikmin, exploding afterwords. He'll be stunned for a short time. This is when you get your reds! Throw them on the stunned bulblax's face (around the eyes, for greates damage). When the bulblax jumps and shakes the pikmin off, call them back. Sometimes, instead of jumping, he'll just open his mouth again. DON'T throw another yellow! Just leave your fighting reds alone, and they'll give it some extra damage. Once the bulblax's health is a little passed half, he'll start to jump really high. When doing this, get OUT of there!! Put all of the pikmin safely away from the entrance (outside of the arena, of course!!), and just run around. The emperor will jump high, aiming for you. Don't worry, though, you're too fast for him to land on you! You can also use the invinciblity trick to just let him jump. Anyway, when you see him start to drool, have him face you. Throw another yellow. He'll eat it, and stun. Repeat this process until he barfs up the last part and burrows back into the ground with his tail between his big fat, yellow legs!!!:) Bring the part back to the Dolphin and tadaa! You've just beaten Pikmin, my fine fellow!

Three Different Endings-

There are three different endings to pikmin. A good, a bad, and a neutral. This is how to get the various endings:
Good-Get all 30 parts within the 30 day periode. This shows Olimar blasting off, and the pikmin start to fight....WITHOUT HIS HELP! He'll blast off into the abyss. They'll show a bunch of different color onions follow him!
Neutral- Get all of the essential parts, but don't get all 30. The same as the good ending, except you don't get the fighting or onion-flying part.
Bad- Do not get all of the essential parts. Olimar attempts to fly, but crashes. The pikmin take him to an onion and he is spit out as an olimar pikmin seed!!
NOTE: The last boss is not for newbies, even using my strategy! So, if you'd be happy with the neutral ending, don't bother fighting him! The part he gives is not essential, but sure darn cute!:)
